The button kingdom became so advanced
that some of the minimalist buttons evolved
into floating action buttons (FABs).
But these are overlapping elements of the button kingdom
because they have the potential to impede the user experience.
The modern button kingdom also gave rise
to transparent buttons called ghost buttons.
These buttons have a thin outline and text
that matches the outline color.
Aesthetics are the driving force behind these buttons,
as they are a sophisticated method of establishing a unified vibe.
The button kingdom didn’t stop progressing,
continuing the evolution of minimalist buttons
until it reached chaos and gave rise to the final ruler
– the oval buttons.
This generation of buttons provided
a welcome change in the button kingdom
from the standard square or circular button shape
while still maintaining the same level of visual appeal.
These buttons boast a solid fill style
and reliable hover and tap states
to let you know they’re the real deal.
Fun fact: It actually took me a day to create this post.
I couldn’t move on from trying to seamlessly get the pop-up feature to work in the way that I want it to work.
Grey operating system buttons and blinking GIF buttons have given way to a more refined and sophisticated button kingdom.
The button kingdom didn’t stop advancing because of the need for slicker visuals and the need to consider the material design.
Now, it’s ruled by red oval buttons that are seeking for worthy opponents to overthrow them from the throne.
But as the chaos continues, will there be a worthy new breed of buttons to show up and challenge the might of the oval buttons and bring everything back into order and stability?
Once upon a time, in the early 90s,
the button kingdom used to be ruled
by blinking GIF buttons or graphics.
But the skeuomorphic buttons eventually lost their charm
as the button kingdom moved towards modernity.
This, of course, gave birth to clean,
minimal flat buttons to keep affordances.
These are more powerful and preferable buttons
because they sit atop the user interface.
And then the raised and 3D clickable-looking buttons
called skeuomorphic buttons waged war
against those GIF buttons and came out victorious;
thus came the new rulers of the button kingdom.
